Now that the cold winter air is staring to settle it's time to start thinking about your essential and timeless coat option... the Trench Coat.

Whether you want a classic trench like in Breakfast at Tiffany's ...

Or something a little different...
Burberry Spring Collection 2011

Either way we have put together a little list for you...

The top 5 types of trench coats and inexpensive examples!

Also check out the added bonus at the end of the list!

1. The Classic Trench
Wholesale - New Fashion Womens Slim Fit Double-breasted Trench Coat Outerwear #3375, $17.01 Sale, $20.01 Regular, Adeal.LTD on DHgate.com
This super inexpensive trench coat is a classic, it comes in three colors as shown above, Black, Brown, and Khaki. All three are amazing.

2. The Printed Trench
Via Spiga Women's Black/White Plaid Wool-blend Belted Trench Coat, $64.99, overstock.com
Printed trenches are often made of wool or wool-blend so they are more suited for the winter months when it starts to really get chilly. They come in all sorts of prints including plaids and animal prints! If you are going for something crazy or personal then I would diffidently suggest a printed trench.

3. The Colored Trench
Vince Camuto Double Breasted Raincoat, $88.80, shop.nordstrom.com
Colored trenches are very stylish. The color above is called Imperial Blue and it is very in style right now. The coat also comes in Burnt Orange and Fuchsia. Colored trenches are a much more updated look on the classic trench and are great for your staple item.

4. The Maxi Trench
Worthington® Classic Maxi Trench Coat, $80, jcpenny.com
Maxi trenches seem to yell to the world "Hey look at me! I'm cool and mysterious!" which is diffidently not a bad thing. However, maxi trenches can be hard to pull off which is why they aren't at the top of the list. You need to try them on to make sure they fit you perfectly, otherwise you won't get that cool and mysterious look.

5. The Piped Trench
Worthington® Long Piped Trench Coat, $70, jcpenny.com

Piped trench coats are interesting because of the contrast. This piped trench also comes in black with white piping which is a super sharp and retro look that everyone can rock.

Bonus: The Designer Trench!!!
Long Cotton Gabardine Leather Detail Trench Coat, $1,695.00, Burberry.com
That trench coat you wish you could buy but it's just so expensive. Burberry is one of the best places to look if you are thinking about investing in a trench coat that you want to last forever. They have some of the most amazing trench coats out there in every style you could imagine. There is even an area where you can design your own trench coat! You can add bedazzle like on the picture at the beginning from their spring 2011 collection. You can also change the liner to different patters and the length. If you are thinking of investing in a long terms BFF a Burberry trench coat is one of the best.
